Malar Augmentation

We use facial implants in two main ways. The first is to augment deficient areas of the face that are a result of the patient’s growth pattern. The second way is in conjunction with facial rejuvenation procedures, (face lift, liposuction and laser resurfacing).

In both instances, cheek (malar), and chin implants are the most common. Both are inserted from incisions inside the mouth. The implants are made of solid material called silicone. When placed, the implants feel very much like bone and help augment areas of deficiency. The re-draping of the soft tissues over the augmented area improves facial proportions. When performed with other procedures, dramatic results are obtainable.
